Admission to the Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence for Science and Technology for candidates with a degree obtained outside Italy are evaluated on the basis of the possession of specific curricular requirements and to the adequacy of personal preparation verified by an Evaluation Committee through an admission interview. Students who meet the curricular requirements (at least 30 ECTS or equivalent credit/hours) in the following subject areas: ● Computer Science, computer engineering, and information and communication technologies; are exempted from the interview if: 1. hold a bachelor’s degree awarded abroad and recognized as eligible by the committee with a Cumulative/Overall GPA equal to or higher than 3.55 (on the scale of 0 to 4); or: 2. hold a master’s degree from a foreign university recognized as eligible by the committee in one of the following subject areas: computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, and related areas. Students who meet all of the following 4 conditions are also exempt from the interview: 1. bachelor’s degree earned abroad and recognized as eligible by the committee with a Cumulative/Overall GPA equal to or higher than 3.32 (on the 0 to 4 scale) and less than 3.55 (on the 0 to 4 scale); Students meeting the curricular requirements of at least 30 ECTS or equivalent credit/hours in the following subject areas: ● Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information and Communication Technology; but who do not fall under the cases of exemption from interview are eligible for interview if they meet all four of the following conditions: 1. bachelor’s degree earned abroad and recognized as eligible by the committee with a Cumulative/Overall GPA equal to or higher than 3.2 or higher (on the scale of 0 to 4); For undergraduates, for the purpose of evaluating the fulfillment of the criteria for the various cases listed above, the positively passed subjects as reported in the submitted documentation will be considered. Candidates who do not meet the requirements described will not be admitted to the Master’s degree programme. The interviews will be held remotely. Overview
Starting from the 2022/2023 academic year, the master’s degree course in Artificial Intelligence for Science and Technology is jointly organised by the University of Milan, the University of Pavia and the University of Milano-Bicocca, its administrative headquarters. Taught in English, it is specifically designed to train master’s degree graduates specialising in advanced aspects of the theoretical foundations, techniques, methodologies and ways of using artificial intelligence in complex applications.
Students are provided with extensive specialised training focused on the areas of computer science, mathematics, physics and statistics, giving them a thorough understanding of the theoretical aspects and advanced techniques of artificial intelligence and its use in science, industry and technological innovation. They will also receive the necessary training both in the organisational/management field, to understand, manage and integrate information and communication technologies in the company, and in the legal field, to understand the constraints that limit the socially acceptable use of artificial intelligence. The course also provides an opportunity for the students to supplement their general specialist training with further knowledge and skills needed to apply artificial intelligence in specific areas (industrial automation, environmental monitoring, embedded systems, biomedical and health systems, modelling of complex systems, systems for physics and quantum technologies).
Master’s graduates will therefore be able to contribute to the design and implementation of innovative solutions based on advanced artificial intelligence techniques for complex applications in both the public and private sectors
