Entry qualification | Bachelor diploma (or higher) Open access with entry requirements. Basic knowledge of Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Physics is required. The following is therefore required possession of a total of at least 30 CFUs in the following academic disciplines: INF/01, ING-INF/05, ING-INF/03, MAT/01 to MAT/09, SECS-S/01 to SECS-S/06, FIS/01 to FIS/08. The interview will focus on ascertaining basic knowledge in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Physics. In particular, basic knowledge of the following subjects will be tested: • Computer Science: Programming, Algorithms, Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence; I. Candidates meeting the curricular requirements (at least 30 CFUs in total in the following fields scientific disciplines INF/01, ING-INF/05, ING-INF/03, MAT/01 to MAT/09, SECS-S/01 to SECS-S/06, FIS/01 to FIS/08) are exempt from the interview if: • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a mark of 100/110 or higher, or with a average cumulative/comprehensive equal to or above 3.55 (on the scale of 0 to 4); OR: • Hold a master’s degree in one of the following classes: LM-17, LM-18, LM-21, LM-25, LM-27, LM-32, LM-35, LM-40, LM-44, LM-66, LM-82, LM-91, or a master’s degree earned abroad and recognized as eligible by the Commission. II. Students who meet all of the following four conditions are also exempt from the interview: 1. Hold a bachelor’s degree awarded with a mark of 95/110 or higher and less than 100/110, or with a cumulative/comprehensive average of 3.32 or higher (on the 0 to 4 scale) and lower than 3.55 (on the 0 to 4 scale); If the knowledge relating to one of the previous conditions 2, 3 and 4 for exemption from interview was acquired, as part of a teaching activity classified in an academic discipline (i.e. settori scientifico-disciplinari or SSD) other than those indicated, it is necessary to attach the syllabus of that teaching to enable it to be assessed. III. Students who meet the curricular requirements (at least 30 CFU in total in the following academic disciplines: INF/01, ING-INF/05, ING-INF/03, MAT/01 to MAT/09, SECS-S/01 to SECS-S/06, FIS/01 to FIS/08) but don’t fall under the cases of exemption from the interview are admitted to interview if they meet all 4 of the following conditions: 1. Hold a bachelor’s degree awarded with a mark of 85/110 or higher, or with a cumulative/overall average equal to or greater than 3.2 (on the 0 to 4 scale); If the knowledge relating to one of the previous conditions 2, 3 and 4 for exemption from interview was acquired, as part of a teaching activity classified in an academic discipline (i.e. settori scientifico-disciplinari or SSD) other than those indicated, it is necessary to attach the syllabus of that teaching to enable it to be assessed. IV. For graduand candidates, will be taken into account those teaching activities that have been successfully passed as reported in the documentation submitted and will be considered the average of the grades obtained, weighted with the respective CFUs. V. Students who do not fall into one of the above cases will not be admitted to the Master’s degree course. The interviews will be held remotely. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Italian. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

Overview
Starting from the 2022/2023 academic year, the master’s degree course in Artificial Intelligence for Science and Technology is jointly organised by the University of Milan, the University of Pavia and the University of Milano-Bicocca, its administrative headquarters. Taught in English, it is specifically designed to train master’s degree graduates specialising in advanced aspects of the theoretical foundations, techniques, methodologies and ways of using artificial intelligence in complex applications.
Students are provided with extensive specialised training focused on the areas of computer science, mathematics, physics and statistics, giving them a thorough understanding of the theoretical aspects and advanced techniques of artificial intelligence and its use in science, industry and technological innovation. They will also receive the necessary training both in the organisational/management field, to understand, manage and integrate information and communication technologies in the company, and in the legal field, to understand the constraints that limit the socially acceptable use of artificial intelligence. The course also provides an opportunity for the students to supplement their general specialist training with further knowledge and skills needed to apply artificial intelligence in specific areas (industrial automation, environmental monitoring, embedded systems, biomedical and health systems, modelling of complex systems, systems for physics and quantum technologies).
Master’s graduates will therefore be able to contribute to the design and implementation of innovative solutions based on advanced artificial intelligence techniques for complex applications in both the public and private sectors
